Riebeek Kasteel Weddings
As a bride, you deserve no less than your own little piece of heaven in which to celebrate your wedding day! You will find that in the village of Riebeek Kasteel.
40 minutes out of Cape Town and 10 minutes from the N7 Malmesbury turnoff, you drive over Bothmankloof Pass and the picturesque heaven of the Riebeek Valley lies at your feet.
This quaint and decades old community is home to international and local eclectic artists, writers, poets, musicians and so many others of creative spirit.
Old South African families still farm the area, producing wines that are world-renowned. (Yes, you can taste at will at well-organized and historical tasting venues!)
The Royal Hotel in Riebeek Kasteel is reputed to be one of the oldest in the Cape and boasts a fine dining menu as well as the longest ‘stoep’ in the Cape, from which you can watch the world going by with a glass in your hand.
This is the base from which you start to plan the event that will be the first day of the rest of your married life.
Make an early start and pop in to Wicked Treats for their infamous ‘Babalas Burger’ and from there, start exploring the local venues such as The Red Tin Roof, The Royal Hotel and Café Felix – each with their own unique charm. You are sure to be welcomed by the locals, who will be more than happy to give their input and suggestions on the local favourites, such as Le Petit Chocolat for the most distinguished sweet tooth and Garagista for the finest, locally produced craft beer.
A town brimming with creativity! For some inspiration, have a stroll down Short Street and visit the boutiques and galleries. (You’re planning a wedding, so perhaps add one of your favourite art pieces to your gift wish list!)
In summer, pop in to the Secret Garden at Kasteelberg. You might need to ask a local for instructions on how to enter… it is a secret after all! Take a dip in the pool and enjoy a cold beer on one of the pool loungers.
You are spoiled for choice when it comes to accommodation for your guests, so make sure you make a full wedding weekend out of it. Take the short drive through to Riebeek West and Hermon to make sure you explore all your options.
The Wedding Planners is based in Riebeek Kasteel and we are waiting to hear from you. Let us guide you through the best the valley has to offer. Pop us an email or give us a ring and we will meet you at one of our favourite coffee spots (or wine).
