A few weeks ago we hand-picked some of the wedding industry’s top suppliers to assist us with a shoot. The aim: to promote Wolfkop Nature Reserve and Camping Villages as a destination wedding venue for the “free-spirited” bride and groom (go like and follow them on Facebook to stay up to date with all things “free” and “spirited”!).
Lying 5km from Citrusdal, at the foothills of the Cederberg, Wolfkop is a 450ha reserve featuring privately appointed cottages and camping village. It’s the ideal weekend wedding venue for the free spirited bride and groom, who want to spoil their guests with a unique weekend get-away. Wolfkop can accommodate from 60 to 160 guests with accommodation and venue in a comfortable Bedouin tent “village”.
The farm also boasts with four luxury cottages, each individually decorated. Queen-size beds with cotton percale bedding, an indoor and outdoor hot shower, an open-plan, well equipped kitchen (including fresh orange juice in season and fresh coffee beans and grinder for the perfect cuppa!), your own private jacuzzi and fireplace.
Farm activities include mind boggling hiking trails, swimming, fly-fishing and braai areas at the dam.
Carla, from BlueCheri Photography suggested we make the absolute best of the late afternoon and early morning light on the Citrusdal farm and so our adventure turned into a stay-over. Nobody complained. After 100’s of (it felt) emails and nail-biting challenges, we finally set a date that suited the whole team for our two day adventure. Everyone went out of their way to take part in this shoot. Our models and hair-and make-up artist, Rina Viljoen, had to get up at 3:30 am to be ready at 06:00 for the first light on the second day! The dresses from Alana van Heerden were absolutely exquisite and suited our “bride”, model Kim, as if they were made for her (without a fitting!). Thanks Marcel, for making Wolfkop and the models even more breath-taking.
Our team left the farm refreshed, having experienced the truly beautiful African sunset over the mountain and sunrise in the orange groves. The crisp fresh air and natural beauty of the valley will have us going back for more very soon…
It was a pleasure working alongside some of the top wedding industry professionals, without egos, with only one aim: to create beauty stripped of pretence, just like Wolfkop.
Good things come to those who wait patiently… see for yourself.
