And of course, set in the heart of the Plettenberg Bay Wine Route, good wine is simply a given when celebrating at Kay and Monty. Our award-winning boutique wine farm produces a crisp Sauvignon Blanc and a deliciously dry Chardonnay MCC – both of which you will enjoy on your wedding day.
Apart from hosting a special wedding here at Kay and Monty, the next best thing is seeing the snaps! Surrounded by vineyards, polo ponies, rolling mountains and lush forests, your wedding photos will be nothing short of magical. There truly is a beautiful backdrop around every corner.
Our wedding day was more than we could have imagined. We were surrounded by our favourite people in the world in one of our favourite places. A highlight for us was our ceremony, we had the most beautiful setting on the lawn right by the dam. The weather was a bit overcast but the sun decided to shine through the clouds onto our congregation at a very specific moment during our ceremony. Our reception area was exactly what we wanted it to be and more, and it allowed for an incredible evening with all our friends and family. – Leanne and Kyle
“If you can spend a perfectly useless afternoon in a perfectly useless manner, you have learned how to live.” Lin Yutang (1895 – 1976)
Situated 18km East of the coastal town of Plettenberg Bay, Hog Hollow Country Lodge, a private nature reserve, is set on the edge of indigenous forest with breathtaking views of the surrounding valleys and Tsitsikamma Mountains. We are well known for our delectable food, personalized accommodation, panoramic views and sincere hospitality.
The sixteen individual suites are situated in lush gardens surrounding the main house. Each room is decorated in a uniquely African-style using a combination of bright and earthy colours, naturally woven fabrics, artifacts from around Africa and local handcrafted woods. These comfortable, stylish suites offer private wooden decks, hammocks – perfect to while away those balmy sunny days – king sized beds, lounge area, en-suite bathrooms and most have cosy fireplaces for those chilly winter nights.
Superb breakfasts are served out on the boma deck in the warmth of the morning sunshine, or inside by the fire on chillier days, while our scrumptious communal dinners are served in the conviviality of the candle-lit main house.
Attractions nearby range from: lazing at our long blue pool, or taking a refreshing sauna, to a magnificent walk from the Lodge through the ancient indigenous forests to either to Monkeyland primate sanctuary, the Birds of Eden or the Elephant Sanctuary. Other attractions include over 50 charted walks, horse riding, golf, canoeing, abseiling, bungy jumping (the world’s highest -216m!!), boat-based whale and dolphin watching, a treetops canopy walk or a scenic glider flight around the bay. The list is endless …
To host a wedding at Hog Hollow, we require all 16 rooms to be booked out by the wedding party for a minimum period of two days, this is because the wedding party becomes our focal point and absorbs all the staff and facilities prior and post-wedding. It makes the wedding more intensely personal as the lodge then becomes the party’s private space.
Three years later… we are back for our marriage in Hog Hollow. Perfect preparation from the lodge, perfect location, perfect breakfast buffet, lovely service, perfect cook. It was a great time again. Thank you so much. It was 5 star+ again!!! – Lutz & Marion, Germany
