That’s easy! Their owner, Mareli, has a range of experience from studying at the Institute of Culinary Arts in Stellenbosch to being a food stylist assistant at a food photography company where Woolworths was one of their biggest clients. After that, she was the Head Pastry Chef at 5-star Delaire Graff Restaurant for a few years where she learnt the importance of real butter, a whole teaspoon of salt, couverture chocolate and attention to detail. Mix that with a whole lotta love and passion and you’ve got yourself a winner recipe!
Cake Me Happy baked a delicious, decadent cake for our wedding on 15 December. They also kindly delivered it to the venue, and styled it beautifully with flowers and macaroons. Our guests commented how much they enjoyed it, and we can only highly recommend our experience of Cake Me Happy. Thank you Mareli! – Lauren Lambert

Our tips: Book your cake maker
Meet the best wedding cake makers in Cape Town. Click on the REQUEST A QUOTE button to send an enquiry email to all the designers or click on their image to send a single enquiry.
You and your partner may already have a general idea of what you like and dislike. The cake cutting is a memorable moment on your wedding day and you want it to not only look jaw dropping upon reveal, but also taste delicious. It should fit with the style and size of your wedding.
Make sure to book your cake in advance to avoid disappointment and rushed decisions. We also recommend here to go for a cake tasting and consultation if possible. Go prepared with pictures of what you have in mind and what the budget constraints are. Your cake designer will guide your choices, from design to flavour to decor possibilities.
It’s best to decide on the details of your wedding cake as soon as you have a clear picture of the style and colours of the day. Will the cake be the dessert or be served as part of your dessert course? This will influence the size and perhaps also the flavour(s). Do you prefer modern and a bit edgy or are you romantic and whimsical?
Add a beautiful stand and toppers for a truly impressive wedding cake. There are so many exciting options!
Instead of a served dessert course, opt for a dessert table. For us, this is one of the best ideas to add to your wedding day. It is a focal point and your guests can explore a variety of smaller dessert options over a couple of hours and after the dance floor has opened.
